An Súgán Guesthouse

An Súgán 's Guesthouse is located adjacent to An Súgán Bar Seafood Bar & Restaurant in a beautiful Georgian house ideally located on a quiet side street near the centre of Clonakilty Town in County Cork. There is much history attached to the house which at one time would have overlooked Clonakilty Harbour. The house was home to Jane Irwin, wife of the Fenian O'Donovan Rossa, and it is said that Charles Stewart Parnell also addressed a crowd from the window.

There are five double bedrooms, one triple room and one twin room, all ensuite, all with flat screen TV's, iron and ironing boards, tea- and coffee-making facilities, hairdryers and extremely comfortable beds. Wi-Fi is also available in the living room downstairs.

All rates include a full Irish breakfast, using all local produce such as Rosscarbery sausages and bacon, O'Neill's black and white pudding and Shannonvale eggs. Homemade jams, An Súgán brown bread and apple juice from Melagulla Orchard in Ovens, County Cork are also served.

An Súgán has been included in many guides and received many awards over the years. They have been awarded an AA three-star rating for the guesthouse and been awarded entry to Failte Ireland's new bar accreditation system 'Raising the Bar'. In addition they have been included in Paulo Tulio's 2011 restaurant guide.
