The Irish Soul Weekender On The Wild Atlantic Way

7 - 9 FEB, 2020

The Irish Soul Weekender aims to provide the very best of Northern Soul, Motown, Club Classics, Funk and Modbeats over 3 days of non-stop dance music

The event will feature every strain of the Soul Music genre but will be particularly celebrating the following:

* 60 years of the Tamla Motown sound which introduced the world to such artistes as Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, Diana Ross & The Supremes, The Four Tops, The Temptations and many, many more.

* 50 years since the birth of 'Northern Soul', the phenomenal underground soul scene which originally championed rare, upbeat soul music of the 1960's which emerged in particular from the industrial heartlands of cities like Detroit and Chicago. Today, the passion which fired that scene has spread worldwide and now Ireland is to get a taste of it all.

* 'The Mods' spawned a sub-culture in 1960's Britain whose influence has never quite disappeared. Indeed, the fashions, the music and the paraphernalia of it all still resonates more than half a century later all over Europe and further afield. At the Irish Soul Weekender, you can expect to see some of the attire being paraded and you are promised a sound track of classic soul, rhythm & blues, Funk and popcorn to accompany it.

All this, along with the beauty of this part of The Wild Atlantic Way and the many delights of Westport Town promise an irresistable offering!
