A warm welcome awaits you at Suan Na Mara on the fabulous Ceide Coast of North Mayo. It is a home away from home located 3km from the historic town of Killala, County Mayo, overlooking the 15th century Moyne Abbey with a panoramic view of Killala Bay on the Wild Atlantic Way. This is a cosy, comfortable, spacious and well-appointed self-catering accommodation which has been tastefully decorated and maintained by its owners. A perfect place to stay with lots of space to relax and unwind with a glass of wine or a nice cup of tea after the day’s activities.

Suan Na Mara sits surrounded by a large enclosed garden that provides a safe play area for children and plenty of car parking spaces. There is a garden shed suitable for storing fishing gear, rain wear, golf clubs and other equipment.

Inside visitors will find a cosy separate sitting room with an open fireplace, TV and carpeted flooring. There is a large dining room as well as fully equipped kitchen where guests can prepare meals with ease. Suan Na Mara has four bedrooms, one of which is en suite, in addition to recently refurbished bathroom with a corner shower and bath. Electricity and heating are charged by meter reading. High speed broadband is available.

While staying at Suan Na Mara guests will find many activities and attractions of interest in Killala and the surrounding area:

• 10 to 15 minute drive away there is excellent freshwater fishing on the River Moy, Palmerstown River, Lough Conn and other lakes and rivers. (fishing rods are available for hire from McDonnell’s Stores, Killala)

• Sea angling is available at Killala Bay and arrangements can be made with local boat owners for fishing trips.

• There is a splendid Blue Flag beach nearby at Ross.

• Soak up our history and heritage by exploring the Monasteries of the Moy- Moyne, Rosserk and Rathfran on the local greenway.

• Visit the 10th Century Round Tower, St. Patricks Cathedral and souterrain( W:killalabikehire.com)

• The wonderful Ceide Fields and magnificent sea stack at Downpatrick Head.

• Loop Walks at Ross, Lacken, Keenagh and Carrowteigue (W: mayowalks.ie)

• Belleek Woods, Ballina home to the red squirrel and the largest urban forest in Europe.

• For guests interested in golf there is a fabulous 18-hole golf course at nearby Ballina and a wonderful links course at Enniscrone.

• Suan na Mara is an ideal base from which to visit other some well-known places in Mayo such as Knock Shrine, Croagh Patrick, Neiphen Mountains, Foxford Woollen Mills, Museum of Country Life, Turlough, Castlebar, Achill Island, Ashford Castle and many others. The Monasteries of the Moy Greenway is 300 metres from Suan NaMara.

North Mayo is an absolute haven for historians, fishermen, walkers, golfers and photographers with an abundance of stunning landscapes, textures and incredible light that enraptures camera carrying locals and visitors to the region alike.
