Number 2 Glenvale Cottage

Glenvale Cottage is a four-star self-catering property that sits in a unique, ruggedly beautiful setting adorned by mountains and lakes. Situated on private grounds on Achill Island, County Mayo, the cottage can sleep six people.

At Glenvale Cottage, guests will find a large pine oak-fitted kitchen and dining room with seating for six people. The space features a timber beamed ceiling and wooden floors. Glenvale Cottage has two double bedrooms, one of which is ensuite, as well as a twin bedroom. There is a bathroom with bath, WC, washing hand basin and separate shower.

At the end of a busy day exploring Achill Island, guests can come home and relax in the comfortable sitting room by the cosy open fire. There is also a patio with garden furniture for outdoor dining on warm days. Facilities in the house include TV, washer, dryer, dishwasher, microwave and hairdryer. Additionally, bed linen and towels are provided.

Glenvale Cottage is conveniently located just minutes from Golden Strand Beach and near a pitch and put, and outdoor adventure centre. Other local amenities include brown trout fishing, a nine-hole golf course, sub-aqua diving, hand gliding, windsurfing, canoeing, kayaking, hill walking, rock climbing and a wealth of historical sites such as the 16th-century Kildownet Castle, owned by Pirate Queen Grainne Uaile. The work of various craftspeople is available in outlets throughout the area and at the local country market. Treasures to be discovered include pottery, knitted goods, paintings and sculptures.

Anglers will also find themselves in paradise, as trout, salmon and basking shark are all present. Around Achill there are many good fishing spots; one can have the pleasure of fishing from the rocks between the Golden Strand and Dugort, and by the rocks near Purteen Harbour or at Carrigmore between Doonagh and Keem Bay.
