A lot of pools in the Abbey River were destroyed by an arterial drainage scheme and the banks are very overgrown and difficult to fish. It gets a run of sea trout in July and August and fishes best with a worm after a flood.

The fishing is regarded as free and open season runs from 1 March until 9 October.
