The castle lapsed into ruin after O’Dea’s lands were forfeited. It was restored in 1986-88 by the Dysert O’Dea Development Association.

Within the 6 rooms are exhibits of archaeological artifacts from 1000 BC to 1700 AD of local history over last 3 centuries. Audio-visual presentation on the history/archaeology of this unique area is availble in English, German & French.
