Get set for buckets of fun in Ballyferriter this Sunday the 6th, as the festivities of the weekend reach their final day. Get into character with a visit to the costume area in the West Kerry Museum, or send your young one to Jedi training courtesy of Scoil Baile an Fheirtearigh. Explore an exhibition, cruise the coast, or sail away into space - the stars really are the limit!

Photography & Videography Exhibition – Taispeántas Grianghrafadóireachta agus Fiseáin

Explore a fantastic collection of photographs and videography from Star Wars’ time in Kerry in one of the county’s best known pubs, Páidi Ó Sé’s in Ventry and Músaem Chorca Dhuibhne in Ballyferriter. This growing collection of photographs – taken and donated by both professional and amateur photographers the world over – gives a glimpse into the national and international excitement felt when the production began filming on the Wild Atlantic Way.

Self-guided Village Trail – Cosán féin-threoraithe

Starting at Músaem Chorca Dhuibhne follow our self-guided picture/information trail of local locations used in the making of some scenes from the latest Star Wars movies. Follow the trail behind the village which overlooks two of the film locations and use our telescope in the village to get a closer look when you reach the end of the trail.
Parking: Use public parking where possible in the village and at the school.

Cruise the Coastline - Glac crús ar imeallbhord

Take a voyage around the coastline that Star Wars captured on the silver screen, while aboard the North Star cruiser. Enjoy a leisurely cruise with local Skipper Michael O Connor, as he shares local knowledge of pretty Smerwick Harbour and take passengers directly from Ballydavid Pier to open ocean locations boasting exceptional views of the coast.

Sea Craft... Not Space Craft: Boat Flotilla – Mionchabhlach Bád

All aboard! All local and visiting sailing yachts, Galway Hookers, power boats and RIBs (rigid inflatable boats) are invited to join a fantastic flotilla of boats that will sail from Dingle to Smerwick Harbour/Ballydavid Pier. 

Sailing all along the breathtaking West Kerry coastline, you’ll spy the backdrop to many of spectacular scenes from the latest movie. Lucky sailors will pass Dunmore Head, Ceann Sibéal and Farran, arrive into Smerwick Harbour and moor close to Ballydavid Pier. Once docked, activities, food and accommodation will be organised at both Tigh T.P. and Begley’s Bar.

Jabba the… Beehive Hut? Visit a Skywalker Style Home – Na Clocháin Coirceogach, tabhair cuairt ar baile Skywalker

While Luke Skywalker’s hideaway of choice was among the remote huts of Skellig Michael, visitors can get up close with these types of beehive huts (or 'clocháin') without any boat trips, amid the beauty of Dingle Bay.
Overlooking the bay’s inviting scenery, these intriguing huts bear a striking resemblance to those used in the making of the latest movie. Of similar structure to the the monastic huts on Skellig Michael, the ancient corballed Gleann Fahan huts are thought to have housed pilgrims, given the area's many pilgrimmage sites. Get a taste of Luke’s life with a visit to one; entry is free to visitors savvy enough to arrive with a lightsaber or in Star Wars costume. Children can also feed the baby lambs on-site during their visit. Car parking facilities are available.

Force Training

Pull on your brown robe, memorise the Jedi code and learn to harness the Force at this great day out for kids in Scoil Bhaile an Fheirtéaraigh. Based on teachings taken straight from the Star Wars series, the specialised trainers on hand will help your child develop skills like bravery and nobility, find their inner power and return home a fully certified 'Jedi'.

COSMIC COSPLAY - Culaith Cosmach

Whether you prefer to go Hans Solo or make it a family affair as Luke, Leia and Darth Vader, you'll have your chance to act out your own Star Wars fantasy when you rent a costume from Músaem Chorca Dhuibhne in the centre of the village. Adults and children alike are welcome to step into the shoes of your favourite character, then show it off around the village on a guided walk. The 501st crew will be on hand in full finery so you can snap as many selfies as your heart desires and make it a day to remember.

May the Fourth Be With You Family Fun Day

Dress up and come along to enjoy the fun afternoon of arts,crafts, bouncy castles, face painting and enjoy a Star Wars play produced by the local drama school. Tuck into some Star Wars themed BBQ food and have your photo taken with some of your favourite Star Wars characters.

Skellig Island’s Virtual Reality Experience
