Fenit is a sheltered harbour cupped inside Tralee Bay which is the trading and fishing centre of North Kerry. Succulent oysters which bedded down in the area established the rich reputation for fresh seafood for the restaurants and bars in the area. Enjoy some of the most spectacular views of the western seafront.


View the beautiful marina which hosts both leisure and commercial boats. St. Brendan the Navigator Heritage Centre looking out to the sea from Fenit harbour is a 5mtr high bronze statue of the famous voyager, St. Brendan. The Feast Day of St. Brendan is held in May and the Fenit Seabreeze Festival is held in June.

A short 20min boat trip through breathtaking scenery will bring you onto Little Samphire Island Lighthouse with fascinating history and lots to explore. Tralee Bay Cruises as well as Sea Fishing charter trips are also available. The Sailing Club has courses on sailing, kayaking and power boating.

There are many walking and hiking routes in and around Fenit such as “The Brendan Way”, a trail across the historical sites relating to St. Brendan. Fenit Cycleway contrasts the diverse nature of touring along the Fenit peninsula with panoramic views of Tralee Bay and the quiet rural landscape of the area. The distance is 26kms.

Fenit and the surrounding areas host a large variety of sea birds, waders, etc and Fenit is a designated natural heritage centre, important for the flora and fauna. Fenit is a blue flag beach and is home to the Tralee Bay Swimming Club.

The fishing port of Fenit with its extensive marina is located 13km west of the town of Tralee and is well worth a visit. Fenit is located 31km from Kerry Airport and 138km from Shannon Airport.
