Scenically located overlooking Valentia Harbour, Cahersiveen is the capital town of the Iveragh peninsula. The town also lies at the foot of Beentee Mountain, on the Fertha Rive, and is renowned for its natural beauty and wealth of historic sites. It is home to the engaging Barracks Heritage Centre, the atmospheric ruins of a 15th-century Castle and two ancient forts. The town also has a busy marina and has a reputation for some of the best deep sea angling in Europe.

Sandy coves and beaches surround the town and the calm waters and spectacular scenery attract artists, climbers, windsurfers, cyclists and walkers.
