Temple Gate Hotel

The Temple Gate Hotel offers a warm welcome to anyone visiting Ennis, County Clare. The hotel, which is located in the town centre, sits on the site of a 19th-century convent with a fascinating history.

Today it serves as a great base for exploring the cobblestone streets of Ennis and the Wild Atlantic Way along the west coast of Ireland. Location and day trips

The hotel, family owned and managed, is ideally located in the heart of Ennis. Ennis town came into being in 1240 with the foundation of the Franciscan Abbey. The ruins of this abbey still stand in the centre of the town not 200 yards from Temple Gate Hotel. The town grew up on the banks of the River Fergus and quickly developed into a bustling market town. The merchant tradition can be seen today in the wooden facades of the brightly-lit Ennis stores which offer a wide variety of goods to the discerning shopper. With theatre, a multi-screen cinema, fine restaurants and pubs featuring traditional music nightly all tastes are catered for. From Temple Gate Hotel, one can travel a short distance westward to the world renowned Cliffs of Moher, the Burren, Doolin, Lisdoonvarna and many sandy beaches. It is an ideal base to explore Irelands West. Lying nearby to the South and East lie Bunratty Castle, Knappogue castle, Kilalaoe and Limerick. Two golf courses are within 2 km of the hotel. Lahinch and Doonbeg championship golf courses are with 30 minutes away providing a challenge for golf enthusiasts.
