Sás Looped Walk

Take a walk to the edge of the world and visit Sás Creek, a most dramatic coastal feature, Sás Creek is a large U-shaped inlet with high, steep slopes. The Irish word sás means a kind of trap using a noose. In this case, it describes the action of the sea within the creek. Three families lived in the area in the last century and one of the families remained into the early years of this century. Remnants of the old village at Arraglen remain. Here they grew wheat and rye and kept livestock and cultivation ridges are still visible beneath the heather.
