Oceans Alive Visitor Centre & Seaside Trail

Oceans Alive Visitor Centre & Seaside Trail.

The real Wild Alantic Way can be seen here at this Vistors Centre which is placed right on the edge of the Atlantic, so you can literally skip a stone on its surface while taking a walk along the seaside trail or enjoying one of there many picnic areas along the waters edge.

In the centre you will find many artifacts on display which were used by the locals and give a glimpse into the lives of the people who lived on these shores in times gone by, light hearted stories such as the Renvyle Merman tale to more somber historical events such as the infamous Cleggan Disaster and Spanish Armada shipwreck at the mouth of Ballinakill Bay are all documented here in great detail.

Children will enjoy the fish tanks and little fun displays to be found throughout the center, as well as discovering crabs and other sea life on the seaside trail.

The seaside trail is busy with wildlife, flora and fauna from Sea birds flying around the bay, swans floating on the surface to Otters which can be spotted on the rocks and seaweed of the shore. The trail has numerous information points and seating areas where your view is of the Twelve Bens & Maam Turk Mountain Ranges that are across the water from where you sit.
