The Easky River is eighteen miles long, and its catchment includes Easky Lough. The grilse start running in late June, and a prolific run of fish enters the river on every flood right to the end of September.

From the bridge in Easky upstream to Fortland Falls is private water. Most of the rest of the river is controlled by Easky Salmon Anglers' Association.

Open season for salmon runs from 1 February to 30 September and sea trout season is from 1 February to 12 October.
