Established in 2008 at Tig Bhric (Bricks Pub), making it the first micro brewery in Kerry since the 1800’s, it was originally set up as a partnership between two rural pubs in the West Kerry Gaeltacht (Tig Bhric & Tigh Úi Cáthain), 7 miles west of Dingle Town. A need for a locally produced beer had been identified after years in the business of servicing visitors, the constant question of “what is your local beer?” prompted action.

Thus Kerry's first brew pub was born.

Emphasis is on low volume quality beers, bottle, cask and keg conditioned and unfiltered. The beers are brewed with its own well water which is 150 feet below the brewery, Irish grain and fresh yeast.

The brewery is set in a mature garden with botanicals, which are experimented with in seasonal specials, making the beers truly authentic and indigenous.

The brewery is hugely fortunate in the spectacular setting, a mature garden of 25 years, cupped, minutes from Smerwick Harbour between Brandon Mountain, Máirthain Hill and The Three Sisters. Gallarus Oratory is just a mile away and The Riasc Monastic site is just minutes away, to name but a couple of attractions in this area of rich heritage.

A visit to the brewery allows one to really soak up the atmosphere of the West Kerry Gaeltacht, a raw and natural beauty which can indeed be enhanced by the beers! The beers are brewed to reflect this “rawness” - they are unfiltered, brewed not only with natural well water but native Irish grain and fresh yeast. It is the intention to present them in all their glory, unfussed with high malt content and generally low hopped. The garden plays its part not just with the setting but through providing botanicals with which to play with in seasonal specials.

To date the brewery have produced 9 different beers which include the core three below, because of the small production which is 5BBL or 800 Litres which the brewery use to their advantage and experiment with product development.

The centre beers are:

Carraig Dubh 6%: A smooth luxurious traditional porter, with flavours of coffee and vanilla

Cúl Dorcha 5% Dark Ale: A fruity dark red ale with hints of chocolate balanced with the bitterness of Challenger hops.

Béal Bán 5% Golden Ale: A refreshing golden ale with a subtle hop aroma and a caramalt after taste.
