You’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to picturesque walks around the Bay Coast. The counties of Galway and Mayo both boast numerous routes, while the iconic Aran Islands of Inis Mór, Inis Meáin and Inis Oírr (located off the Galway coast) are also home to some beautiful, secluded winding paths. With multiple looped walks to avail of, there’s something to satisfy walkers in search of an easy amble or a bracing hike.
A most tranquil hideaway, Inishturk Island in County Mayo hosts the Mountain Common Loop, a pollution-free haven brimming with lush panoramic views and beautiful sandy beaches nestled between Inishbofin and Clare Island. Inishbofin itself has three looped walks to check out, with the Westquarter Loop affording some striking Atlantic coastal scenery of Connemara. Elsewhere, the charming Inishbiggle has a couple of great walks in the Gubnadoogha and Mountain Common loops.
